Welcome to the first blog post for School Hours. An Australian owned and operated business, dedicated to helping parents find flexible employment opportunities with Family Friendly Employers.
A recurring theme you’ll hear around School Hours is that children spell love as ‘T-I-M-E’. Simply put, kids long for their parent’s time and our aim is to find employment for parents to allow them to provide that most basic of needs.
One of the reasons why we’re very proud of School Hours is the fact that it was born out of the desire for Yasmin and I to spend more time with our kids. At that time, we were both in long term fulltime senior management positions working long hours, earning the ‘big bucks’, and at the same time sending our girls to childcare most days.
As our eldest daughter came out of childcare and started school life, it quickly became apparent that our career paths would not allow us to spend as much time with our kids as we wanted (and this was when we worked for a very family friendly employer). So after months of deliberating on how to move forward, the idea for School Hours was hatched.
What better way to make a living than helping others! We’ll be assisting working parents, helping those wishing to return to the workforce, and working hand in hand with those craving more time with their kids without compromising their career aspirations. The idea gnawed at us for around 6 months until finally in July of 2011 we both began working towards getting School Hours off the ground. Months on, and we’re on our way to having our business website and jobs board live. We’ve decided to stop reading and start doing!
We’re now officially online, having launched phase 1 with this very blog post.
Ultimately our goal is to be the first choice employment website for parents looking for work that will allow them to balance career and family life. School Hours will partner with employers, recruitment agencies, and employment agencies to achieve this goal while providing an informative and user-friendly website.
As jobseekers you can expect a regular flow of high quality jobseeking tips, and even some parenting and lifestyle information while we keep you updated on School Hours’ progress towards listing positions. Employers and recruiters on the other hand can expect data on the state of the jobs market, human resources tips and some great offers relating to our advertising packages as we get closer to our official launch.
Nothing will make us happier than being able to help Australian jobseekers, employers and recruiters achieve their goals.
See you in School Hours!
