There is nothing like a major date like Christmas to make you take stock of what has been, and to help you cast your mind towards what will be. This year has been an amazing positive learning experience for Leigh and I, even the not so positive stuff has had its benefits.
Our Facebook page and website is being visited regularly with lots of people signing up to these forums on a daily basis. The feedback so far is that content we create and have created for us, is popular and helpful. This is an incredibly positive fact for us because we are an employment website that is yet to post a single job.
We expected to have launched the jobs component of our website by now. In actual fact, 3 months ago we were forced to go back to scratch after nearly 18 months in development due to our dissatisfaction with the quality of product being developed by our lead programmer. To say that we doubted our ability to deliver this project at this point is a gross understatement.
However, if ever we doubt what we are trying to create in School Hours or think to ourselves that it is just too hard, we take heart and spirit from these numbers. While they’re not family friendly job listings for the parents of Australia, which is what we really wanted to measuring, they are still a very important component of our business. Without posting a single job, we have a great following and a lot of support in our concept.
When we’re discussing our business at a family event, after-school get-together or a sporting activity and we get that all-to-common look of disbelief when we say we’re nearly finished our website, it’s these numbers, it’s this support that keeps my chin up. Yes it’s been more challenging than I ever expected. Yes it’s taken significantly more time than I anticipated, but am I going to stop now? No. I am not.
I, together with my husband, will bring you Australia’s best family friendly employment website. So are we close? Yes we are. So close we can taste it and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve created. We’re sure you’re going to love it. Merry Christmas. We’ll definitely catch up in the new year. The year of “School Hours Family Friendly Employment”.
